The Town of Eckville community shredding event is returning for its second year.

Eckville started holding this event after seeing that other communities in the area held similar events, Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Jack Ramsden said.

“We noticed that Rocky Mountain House held a similar event for a few years and our council thought that it was a good free service to offer to our residents.”

While the event is primarily intended for Eckville residents, non-residents won’t be turned away, he added.

“After all, many of these non-residents support our local businesses and recreation facilities.”

At the community shredding event, interested individuals can bring in any paper product to be shredded.

“Last year, some of the residents had boxes full of old tax returns, bills, and invoices,” Ramsden said.

The community shredding event will be held on May 25 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Curling Rink/Arena parking lot.
