Cenovus Energy-Eckville recently delivered 639 pounds of donated food to the Breton Faith Covenant Church Food Bank as well as $1,305 in cash and cheques donated by their employees and contractors.

In a time when food bank usage has hit an all-time high and many people have turned to food banks for assistance, the donation is a welcome one for the community.

Shannon Johnson, officer administrator for the Breton Faith Covenant Church, reported on the donation, writing,

“It is so wonderful to see employees and contractors who are employed and working showing their support for those who were victims of bad times. Many of these who have experienced hardships are still struggling to rebound from the loss of income they experienced, even though some have returned to work or found alternate employment. Others still remain unemployed. It is heartwarming to see the compassion Cenovus Energy has demonstrated for these people!”

In her report, Johnson also thanked the company on behalf of the volunteers and clients of the food bank:

“Breton F.C.C. Food Bank, applaud all those who gave so generously of their abundance to aid those who have been less fortunate than they are. The volunteers and clients of the Breton Food Bank greatly appreciate all the effort spent making this project a success. Thank you to everyone who was involved and to all that gave so generously.”
