Eckville Atom A Eagles advance in league playoffs, miss provincials

The Eckville Atom A Eagles played in back-to-back home games over the weekend.

On Friday night, Feb. 28, the Eckville Arena was packed with supporters to see the Eagles face Blackfalds in the final round of provincial playdowns.

The Atom A Eagles won the game 5-4, but it was not enough to advance them to the next round.

The team had to win the game by four points in order to move on and represent Zone 4.

Saturday afternoon brought another win for the Atom A Eagles after they downed Stettler 4-3 on Feb. 29.

The win propels the Eagles into the next round of league playoffs.

A best-of-three series against Airdrie is scheduled to begin this weekend in Eckville. Puck drop is set for noon on March 7 at the Eckville Arena.

Game two will take place on the road.
