Paula Lamoureux is running for the Alberta Advantage Party (AAP) in the Rimbey-Rocky Mountain House-Sundre constituency.
The “grassroots” platform is based around giving Alberta back to Albertans and rebuilding a province everyone can be proud of.
“We have a platform that is going to put Albertans back to work within three months,” said Lamoureux in a phone interview.
The AAP has an energy platform, which plans to reinstate orphaned wells and coal mines to create jobs, as well as being pro-pipeline.
Lamoureux said her and her party also have a tax plan where personal and corporate income tax will be set at 10.5 per cent across the board and the personal tax deduction will be raised from $18,000 to $24,000.
The AAP also looks at better education for students to set up their own businesses to help small towns be more viable, as well as an agricultural platform to eliminate some red tape so it is feasible for the younger generation to enter the world of farming.
Lamoureux says her and the party are looking to incorporate a fair quota system into their agricultural platform.
Additionally, the AAP and Lamoureux are focusing on crime in the area.
“Crime is a huge concern and we’re going to be training an elevating sheriff to police rural crime and have more of a stance for drug abuse with fentanyl and opioids,” explained Lamoureux, adding she is advocating putting criminals to work to pay off their crimes.
“I don’t believe just a slap on the wrist is good enough anymore,” Lamoureux said said. “They need to be put to work, have a paycheque, and their paycheque will be distributed to security [and] back to the owner for the amount of damage that was done.”
She explained the left over funds would be used to look after seniors, veterans and medicine.
“That’s what I’m advocating for. We need to turn our crime around,” added Lamoureux.
The AAP adopted all the policies of the old Wild Rose Party and updated it constitution to fit today’s realistic world, according to Lamoureux.
Lamoureux said her campaign and party is about listening, compassion and integrity.
“Everything in our platform is to give to Albertans, not take away from Albertans,” said Lamoureux. “It’s Albertan’s rule, we enforce.”
The AAP are focused on putting everyone back to work, lowering taxes and keeping money in Albertan’s pockets, Lamoureux says.
