A collision involving three vehicles on Highway 2 north of Ponoka at the start of the long weekend slowed down traffic for some time.
The incident occurred at approximately 11 a.m. on Highway 2 after reports that three vehicles were involved. EMS crews, RCMP and the Ponoka County East District Fire Department were called to the scene.
It is unclear what caused the collision but the injuries are believed to be minor despite there being several individuals and children passengers.
At the time of the collision two vehicles were in the centre median while the third one, a pickup truck, was stopped in the southbound fast lane.
Traffic slowed to a crawl in both northbound and southbound slow lanes for several hours while crews cleared the scene.
Motorists took to the side roads and Menaik Road to bypass the scene.
