Robert Szasz back in the running for Lacombe County

A clean bill of health puts Szasz on the candidate list

Bob Szasz is back in the running for Lacombe County Councillor. Over the years he has served six years with council but had to take a break due to health concerns.

Now with a clean bill of health, he is eager to be back in the game and is enthusiastic about the potential of returning to council. “I’ve got experience, I think I can do a good job,” he said.

His direct experience as a farmer spans 50 years with 23 working as part of the Bentley Seed Cleaning Plant.

“I want to keep things rolling. This is an agriculture community and I’d like to see where agriculture and the urban population can live in harmony,” he said.

Born and raised in the Bentley area, Szasz thinks he has plenty of experience to offer to his community. “I’ve been part of Knights of Columbus, member of the State Board, chairman for recruitment retention for Alberta and Northwest Territories and chairman for the Westview Seniors Apartments in Bentley. I was also instrumental in getting a passport office in Red Deer,” he said.

He has also served on many committees in the community including the Regional Fire Service, Disaster SErvices, Regional Solid Waste, Gull Lake Management, Lacombe Regional Ambulance and Eckville Emergency Services.

Szasz stressed what he thinks is the key challenge in Lacombe County. He would like to see Lacombe County spend less money instead of rasing taxes every year.

“I want to hold it so there’s no tax increase. We’re one of the richest counties. We don’t need to raise taxes, we just need to watch our spending,” he said.
