As of Friday, May 29, 2020, Lacombe County is reopening its playgrounds and public washroom facilities at County recreational areas. Lacombe County’s trails and natural parks remain open. Lacombe County will be sanitizing washrooms based on usage, and advise that you use these facilities at your own risk.

All County public washrooms are equipped with alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Please use this before and after you use the washrooms.

“We thank all residents for following the direction of the Government of Alberta, and encourage users of these recreational spaces to continue to follow the guidelines when enjoying these spaces,” said Drayton Bussiere, Director of Emergency Management for Lacombe County.

Signage is posted at each location, outlining public health orders and directives to be followed by individuals who use the facilities. The public health orders that must be followed include keeping a two-metre distance from others who don’t live in the same household and staying home if you have COVID-19 symptoms. Users are also advised to use alcohol-based hand sanitizer immediately before and after using playground equipment, as the hard surfaces on this equipment pose a risk for virus transmission.

The facilities that have reopened include:

Playgrounds:

  • Mirror Playground
  • Anderson Park

Public Washroom Facilities:

  • Ray’s Pond
  • Sunbreaker Cove Boat Launch/Day use area
  • Anderson Park
  • Lacombe Lake Day Use Area
  • Blindman River Day Use Area
  • Kuhnen Park
  • Tees Pond/Campground
  • Westside Country Estates
  • Eagles Quay
  • Chain Lakes Day Use

Sandy Point Beach remains closed

Sandy Point Beach (beach area, beach parking lot, beach public washrooms and playground) remains closed until further notice. It could potentially reopen during Stage 2, or at such time that Lacombe County feels it can operate and maintain this space safely.
