SYLVAN LAKE INTERMUNICIPAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN

A report was presented with regard to there currently being no regional Intermunicipal Development Plan (IDP) existing between the municipalities surrounding Sylvan Lake. The partnering municipalities, including Lacombe County, Red Deer County, Town of Sylvan Lake, Summer Village of Birchcliff, Summer Village of Halfmoon Bay, Summer Village of Jarvis Bay, Summer Village of Norglenwold, and the Summer Village of Sunbreaker Cove, have identified the need to create an IDP as per the Municipal Government Act review.

The IDP Steering Committee awarded the contract to McElhanney Consulting Services Ltd. at a cost of

$ 217,843.50 for completion of the project. A project meeting was held on September 11, 2018 to outline the framework of the project and key expectations and goals to move forward with the plan. The report was received for information by Council.

2018 ALBERTA EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY STAKEHOLDER SUMMIT

By resolution of Council, Councillor Knight, Councillor Stephenson and Councillor Wigmore were authorized to attend the 2018 Alberta Emergency Management Agency (AEMA) Stakeholder Summit being held on December 4 and 5, 2018 in Edmonton.

RCMP CRIME REDUCTION SYMPOSIUM

By resolution of Council Councillor Kreil was authorized to attend the RCMP Central Alberta District Crime Reduction Symposium being held in Camrose on October 2 and 3, 2018.

BYLAW NO. 1285/18

Bylaw No. 1285/18, a bylaw of Lacombe County to amend the Lacombe County Land Use Bylaw No. 1237/17 as it relates to general regulations and district requirements received first reading.

Bylaw No. 1285/18 has been developed to accommodate the legalization of cannabis on October 27th, 2018.

A public hearing regarding Bylaw No. 1285/18 will be held on October 11, 2018 commencing at 9:00 a.m.

BYLAW NO. 1287/18

Bylaw No. 1287/18, a bylaw of Lacombe County to provide for the prohibition of certain public disturbances received first reading. Bylaw No. 1287/18 will amend the current Community Standards Bylaw to restrict the smoking and vaping of cannabis in a manner that is similar to the restrictions that are placed on alcohol and tobacco. Bylaw No. 1287/18 will be presented for second and third reading at a future Council meeting.
