Many people came out to take in the thrills and spills of Eckville Rodeo June 9-10.

The amateur rodeo brought in spectators and participants from all around, filling the Eckville Arena.

The indoor rodeo was a spectacle to be seen, with ups and downs.

One surprising event was when ladies barrel racer Melissa Grover was knocked from her horse going around the second barrel.

The truly shocking part of the that event was watching as the horse took off around the arena, taking a couple minutes to calm before exiting the arena.

A highlight of the rodeo for some spectators was the wild cow milking.

This event saw teams of three run across the arena to wrangle a cow, milk it and take enough cream for a cup of coffee to the judges on the other side of the arena.

It was a hectic couple of minutes, but fun to watch none the less.

The rough stock events of both nights had everyone on the edge of their seats, unsure what was to come.

The Eckville Rodeo had three rough stock events to watch, saddle bronc, bareback and bull riding.

Of course those were not the only spectacles to take in over the course of the weekend.

To accommodate all the participants the rodeo provided slack which took place June 10 beginning at 2 p.m.

There was also a junior rodeo event which ran at 10 a.m. on June 10.

Brogan Nye took home first place in saddle bronc with a total of 59 points. He won $168 for first place.

Garrett Williams was the only one to place in bull ridding. He earned $840 for his 72 point ride in the rough stock event.

Ladies cow riding saw Martina Holtcamp take home $144 for her 72 point ride.

In steer riding, Anita Feil tied for first place with Braiden Cretney in the 13-15 category. Both had a 73 point ride and left the rodeo with $90.

Wyatt Walker had a 74 point ride in the under 12 steer riding category. For first place he earned $132.

A time of 5.1 seconds earned Landon Warren $100 and first place in the 12 and under breakaway.

In team roping, the duo of Dan Grover Jr. and Chad Sorenson clocked a time of 7.4 seconds putting them in first place. Winning the category earned the teammates $896.

Tie down roping saw Hayden Warren walk away in first place. Warren earned $320 for his 11.3 second run, which was only 0.5 seconds faster then second place.

In 12 and under barrels a 15.316 second ride put Madison Hickey in first place. She earned $130 for first place.

Jewel Pollock went home with $144 and first place in the 13-15 barrel racing category. Pollock clocked a time of 14.737 seconds.

Pollock also raced in the in the ladies barrel racing and took first place there as well. Pollock’s time was a smidgen faster than her 13-15 run, coming in at 14.489 seconds. Her run in ladies barrel racing earned her $798.
