Local musician releases new country single

Alecia Aichelle released “Get Gone” on Nov. 1

Eckville country musician Alecia Aichelle has released a new single, she says is made up of multiple experiences in her life.

“Get Gone”, Aichelle’s new single, is about those in life who don’t treat you right and don’t have your best intentions in mind. She says those people can “get gone” as they are not welcome in anyone’s life.

“We have all had those people who are not good to us, who beat us down and keep us down. To them I say, ‘get gone.’ We don’t need that in our life,” Aichelle explained in a recent interview.

The song is written by Aichelle, and recorded in Nashville, where she has been a few time to record or work on new music.

When working on a new piece, Aichelle says it could be anything that can inspire the song, a story, a lyric or phrase or a melody. In the case of he new single, Aichelle says the title came before any other part of the song.

“I just really liked the idea and it had great energy to it,” she said.

High energy is exactly how she would describe the new song, which is a bit of a departure from the work she has previously released.

“Get Gone” uses a modern country sound, utilizing electric guitar with a driving banjo line.

Using the electric guitar in the single was something she knew she wanted to do as soon as she came up with the idea for the song, and her producer thought the same.

“As soon as I explained what I wanted and envisioned for the song, [my producer] was in complete agreement,” said Aichelle.

She said the song is reminiscent of Shania Twain, with the use of the electric guitar and the country twang.

Overall she described the song as “fun and feisty” as well as a lot of fun to play live with her band.

She said she had a lot of fun changing up the sound for this new single, adding an artist is always changing and evolving in music.

“You need to grow and change as an artist, to try new things. If all my music sounded the same than it would get boring and your wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between songs,” Aichelle said.

Currently, Aichelle is busy on a radio tour promoting her new single, which was released on Nov. 1. Her radio tour is taking her across the western provinces, with more stops throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Aichelle will be performing in Sylvan Lake at the Yuletide Festival on Dec. 2. In the spring she intends to release a new single she is working on.

Currently there are no concrete plans for a new album, but that could come in time.

She says right now she is working on singles as that is the way the music industry is moving.

“Radio is moving towards the single rather than an album, so that is what I’m working on now.”

“Get Gone” is now available for download on iTunes.
