Jaws At The Lake returns to Sylvan Lake

The movie event of the year will be held on Aug. 5

It’s back for another year of thrills and chills.

The Town of Sylvan Lake is once again partnering with Open Air Cinemas for Jaws At The Lake.

After the unbelievable success the first screening had last year, the Town is bringing it back once again.

Announced on social media on July 3, with a video highlighting just how many people were in attendance, the Town of Sylvan Lake is excited to bring the event back.

The movie event will once again be held at Lakeshore Park with a giant screen that can be viewed from land and from the water.

The movie is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. on Aug. 5, part of the many different activities planned around town for the August-long weekend.

While spectators should come out early to ensure a good spot, the movie will start once it can be viewed by all. Similar to last year, when the movie started a little later than the scheduled time, as the sun was obstructing the screen.

Coming back again for this year’s event, will be food vendors. Food trucks will line the parking lot at Lakeshore Park to feed the movie goers during the event.

Food trucks will be on the scene from 5-11 p.m. on Aug. 5.

Aqua Splash is also partnering with the Town to promote the event. They will be open later the day of the movie, until 9 p.m. and will be offering a 25 per cent discount code.

“Jaws” is a 1975 cult-thriller classic, directed by Steven Spielberg. It is considered to be one of the greatest movies ever made, and was the “prototypical summer blockbuster.” It also created one of the most iconic musical accompaniments with John Williams’ “Jaws Theme”.

The movie is rated PG, and parents are warned the movie has adult situations/language and violence.
