The Town of Eckville has received funding for the Summer Temporary Employment Program (STEP).

Council stated they are looking to fill two positions at its regular scheduled meeting on March 25.

The Town is looking for any students, 16-years-old or older, who are returning to school, either secondary or post-secondary, in the fall of 2019 to apply.

There is an office position and an outdoor Public Works position available.

The office position includes general duties including filing and answering phones, while the Public Works position would entail tasks such as mowing grass, watering plants and trimming hedges.

A letter to council states the STEP program is to “help students gain important skills and job experience while helping employers hire the staff they need for the summer.”

The positions are full-time and run anywhere from four to 16 weeks in length running anytime between May 1 and Aug. 31.

Funding is $7 per hour for a maximum of 16 weeks at 37.5 hours per week.

Those interested in either the office staff position or the Public Works position can apply by dropping a resume off at the Town Office or by email to info@eckville.com.

It is asked applicants indicate which position they are applying for and applications must be in by March 29.

Council’s next regular scheduled meeting is April 8.
