Eckville will see its first ever paint night fundraiser next month.

The Paint Nite, hosted by Yaymaker, will raise money for the Eckville Elementary Parent Council.

The event on May 9 will raise money to cover busing costs for the end of the year field trips, with hopefully some left over for classroom supplies.

Maureen Hansen, vice chair of the Eckville Elementary Parent Council, says some teachers have special requests for classroom items they don’t already have and would like.

The paint night will run from 7-9 p.m. at the Eckville Elementary School.

“[Yaymaker] brings easels, they bring paint, aprons, everything, so you don’t have to bring anything and they provide a full instruction of the paint that we’re going to be doing as well,” said Hansen.

The painting is a starry night sky falling behind the shadows of trees and lit up with the colours of the Northern Lights.

Tickets are $45 and can be purchased online through the Yaymaker website.

Hansen said $15 from each ticket will go back to the parent council and the event can accommodate 50 attendees.

Attendees who purchase their tickets before April 30 will be entered into a raffle for a $50 Bower Place gift card.

“I’ve been to fundraiser Paint Nite before myself in Red Deer and it was actually a really fun experience and you get to come home with your own masterpiece,” said Hansen of bringing the idea to Eckville.

The event is open to ladies and men, but is restricted to people over the age of 18.
