Santas Anonymous returns to Ecvkille for another holiday season of giving.

The program, which has been happening in Eckville for over 30 years, provides gifts and food for families who need at Christmas time.

The Santas Anonymous hampers contain everything a family need for food on Christmas Day, and kids will receive toys as well.

Children’s ages and suggestions are included on the application, then the donated toys are matched accordingly.

Donations for the Santas Anonymous program are accepted 365 days a year, said Heather Allen, Director of FCSS.

“Cash is best, but new, unwrapped toys is basically what we want,” commented Allen of donations.

FCSS uses the cash donation to buy the stuff for the hampers, which include everything a family needs for food on Christmas Day.

“It will have bacon and eggs, pancake mix and syrup for breakfast,” continued Allen, who added it will include a whole turkey and stuffing for dinner.

The hampers also have holiday favourites such as hot chocolate and Christmas candies.

“We run the Food Bank all year, so we try to make it special at Christmas,” explained Allen.

Donations can be dropped off at FCSS or at several events around town such as the tree lighting.

Eckville’s Fire Department will be out on Dec. 1 collecting donations for Santas Anonymous as part of their road-side drive.

“It’s very well supported [and] the people are very happy to support it,” said Allen. “The support is just phenomenal in this town for [Santas Anonymous] and the Food Bank. We’ve got very generous people in Eckville.”

Allen added the program is successful and they provide about 30 hampers.

Applications for Santas Anonymous are being accepted now until Dec. 12 at FCSS in the Town Office.

Hampers and gifts will be available for pick up for those who applied on the Monday before Christmas, Dec. 17.
