The annual Eckville Library Silent Auction Fundraiser is back from Nov. 20 until Dec. 7.

This marks the fifth year the Eckville Municipal Library has held the silent auction.

“It’s our biggest fundraiser of the year and it’s very important because it allows us to purchase more books and provide programming in the library,” said Library Manager Patti Skocdopole. “Our community really supports it and it brings our community into the library for the Christmas season as well.”

All the proceeds will go directly to library programs like Lego Day, the TD Summer Reading, children’s programs and free memberships.

Skocdopole added the auction items feature a little bit of everything this year.

“We’ve got everything form a handmade barn, children toys, grills, we’ve got a shredder, we’ve got a handmade quilt and there’s still more coming in,” explained Skocdopole. “We get a nice variety. People are very generous.”

There will also be some gift baskets up for grabs, which were being put together by Andrea Grodesky, a member of the Library Association.

The library is still open to accepting more items as the auction is going on.

People who wish to donate to the Silent Auction Fundraiser can bring items directly into the library.

“I don’t think we have a restriction on anything, somebody donated a nice used telescope last year,” commented Skocdopole.

Bids can be placed on silent auction items both in-house at the library and online on the library’s Facebook page.

Bidding will come to a close on Dec. 7 at noon.

“Our community’s been very generous and we appreciate them supporting the library,” Skocdopole said. “This is a very community oriented project.”

Monetary donations are also accepted and corporate sponsorships are available as well.
