Santa’s Little Helpers were out on the streets on Eckville on Saturday accepting toy and cash donations.

The Eckville Fire Department’s 4th Annual Toy Drive collected $5,470.95 as well as two tables of toys and food on Dec. 14.

“We are proud to say that the generosity of this small town stays strong,” said the fire department in a Facebook post after the drive.

Last year the toy drive brought in two tables of items as well as $6,002.50.

For four hours on Saturday the fire fighters were stationed around town stopping traffic as a way to collect the donations.

They could be found on the 50 St. and 51 Ave. intersection, on Highway 766 by the GTI, by the UFA on 54 Ave. and in front of the Eckville Fire Hall.

All the donations will go towards Ecvkille FCSS’ Santas Anonymous to be distributed to families who need help during the holiday season.
