Break out the sunscreen and the crank up the air conditioning, Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for much of Alberta.
If you have been enjoying the relatively cool temperatures of the last week or so, prepare way to keep cool, as the warning issued says temperatures are expected to be 29 C or higher over the next few days.
Environment Canada expects temperatures to reach 29 C or higher with a low of 14 C from now until at least Friday.
The warning stretches across the eastern part of the province from north to south, and bulging out to cover much the central and southern parts of the province.
It is recommended to spend time away from the heat by spending time indoors or in cooled public buildings, while rescheduling outdoor activities for cooler hours of the day.
It is important to drink plenty of water during a heat wave to stave off possible heat stroke.
During a heat wave, it is recommended to keep watch for symptoms of heat stroke, such as high body temperature, lack of sweat, confusion, fainting, and unconsciousness.
Wednesday’s forecast predicts a high go 29 C and an over night low of 12. For Thursday, expect a high of 29 C, though it will feel more like 32 C, and a low of 13 C.
Friday there is a 40 per cent chance of thunderstorms, with a high of 24 C, though it will feel more like 27 C, and a low of 11 C.
Looking into the weekend, Saturday is expected to have a high of 25 C and a low of 12 C while Sunday will be a little warmer with a high of 27 C, feeling more like 30 C, and a low of 13 C.
Moving into next week temperatures are expected to sit around the mid-20s for the first half of the week.
