The Eckville Echo published its first issue in 1997. The "Echo" currently serves the town of Eckville and the surrounding area (see coverage map under advertising information). Each Wednesday it publishes 2,249 copies and goes into EVERY home via Canada Post mail boxes. The Eckville Echo is published by Sylvan Lake News Ltd. in the town of Sylvan Lake just east of Eckville.Located in the heart of Central Alberta, between Red Deer and Rocky Mountain House on Highway 11, Eckville has a diverse economy with oilfield and agriculture playing major roles. Eckville is not just about farming though. The town and its businesses are enjoying increased year-round growth due to the attraction of small-town lifestyle options with the convenience of a larger centre minutes away. Growth of regional businesses, an increasing number of seasonal residents, and its proximity to Central Alberta's job, recreation and shopping markets are benefits Eckville enjoys. But they do not take away from the importance of community in Eckville. The Eckville Echo reflects that importance by placing its emphasis on covering local events and happenings while offering local businesses an opportunity to advertise to their target-market customers without having to pay for regional coverage. Ever-changing technologies allow the Eckville Echo to offer a top-quality publication to its readers and advertisers without losing that focus on community. |
